Beginner - Age Group Squad

Squad Description
Beginning in January 2011 - This squad is designed for the athlete who has either participated in our Try a Tri Program over the summer season, or the new participant who is looking for the challenge of a new sport in Triathlon, and wants to have fun doing it, around thier current lifestyle. This group will utilize group sessions for training, but athletes will also have the choice of a fully customized individual training program. This squad will comprize of up to 4 sessions each week following approximatley the below structure. All sessions are run in a fun and friendly manner, with the emphasis being on fun and improvment. Athletes who progress through this level of training, can move directly up to the 'advanced age group squad' if they choose to do so. Your squad coach is - Lynda Dew who is a current Age Group Champion, and your new found entry in a new sport, could not be in better hands.
Please note; This squad runs in 2 x 12 week blocks each year, from October - December, and then January - April. Participants can follow a generic program supplied to them between April 1st and October 1st.
Typical Weekly "Group" Session Structure (Please contact the relevant coach for the current weekly timetables and venue listings)
Monday PM (6.00pm - 7.00pm Approx) - Swim Squad at Kardinia Pool
Thursday PM (5.30pm - 6.30pm Approx) - Run Session, leaving from Landy Field
Sat or Sun AM (9.00am - 11.00am Approx) - Bike or Run + Swim Session

Lorne Ride (Great Ocean Road + Various)
Lorne / Skenes Creek Loops (Great Ocean Road, Skenes Creek North Road, Skenes Creek Road, Tanybryn, Forrest, Deans Marsh)
You Yangs Loops (Old Geelong Grammer Roads, Mill Road, Branch Road, Forrest North Road),

Deakin University - Off Pigdons Road, turning into Nicol Drive North. (2nd turn on the left into Clubroom area) (Free Parking)
Landy Field - The corner of Barwon Terrace and Swanston Street. Go in the Swanston Street Entrance (Free Parking)
You Yangs - Meet on the corner of Branch Road and Turntable Drive (Carpark) (Free Parking)
Torquay - Meet opposite Growlers Restaurant, The Esplanade, Torquay (Free Parking)
