Over 4 Days we, had our maximum of 20 athletes again experience life as a full time athlete.  We had 8 people attend thier first training camp with us, and from all reports they loved every minute and one lady at the end of the camp (her first with enduranceteam) was quoted "i have just learnt more in 4 Days, than i have in the last 3 years".  That says volumes about what our camps provide and the coaches that work on them, to make the experience for everyone valuable.  There arent to many camps around, that allow beginners to complete the same sessions as VIS and AIS triathletes and then all sit around for a great team dinner at the end of the day.  Camp photo's and updates all posted on our team facebook page here; http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/enduranceteamnet/238474558263

Well one of our biggest training weekends has come to a close for another year.  The on-going partner-ship with Tri-alliance has seen us run another Lorne Training Camp with sell out numbers and some great training completed.  It was arguably our best ever!  The weather wasn’t overly great at the start with on and off rain for Friday and Saturday, but it cleared up to provide some of the best weather we have had over the years.  With nearly 60 athletes down there over the 3.5 days including some of the best juniors in Australia – it was competitive, but more importantly everyone had fun, including plenty of new tracks and activities to have a go at.  We had over 30 first timers to this camp, and from all reports, they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Training, eating, sleeping non stop for 3.5 days can be a bit daunting for those who have never done it – but everyone seemed to welcome the challenge.

Once again, as we have now on 39 previous occasions – we have run the best training camp in Victoria.

A big THANK YOU, to Ollie, Sarah, Jono, Bo, Paul and Stephane who have all helped out with various things over the course of the weekend.  The camp would not run as smoothly as it does without an enormous amount of co-ordination and assistance.

PHOTO'S APPEAR BELOW and also on our FACEBOOK PAGE!

In preparation for the 2009 Hawaiian Ironman and the 2009 Gold Coast Half Ironman, we took a smaller group of athletes to Palm Cove about 25km just outside of Cairns to prepare for Hawaii and also the Gold Coast Half Ironman.  We ran the live in camp over 2 weeks and enjoyed perfect weather, a Geelong Cats Grand Final win, and an improvement right across the board from all our athletes.  We ran this camp in a different format to what we usually run them in, but the desired outcomes will hopefully still be there when the time comes to perform on race day.  We will be running this type of camp in 2010 for a similar number of athletes (<10), so if you want to maximize your preparation for an event, in one of the best training environments in the world - this might be for you.  Keep checking the website out for more details.

Lorne Triathlon Training Camp - June 2009

                                                                                                            Hi All,

Once again, we have had another fantastic Lorne Training Camp, with over 55athlete’s and in a very lucky twist some very very good weather.   With weather predicted to be feral, Lorne again turned it on for us, and the planned storms and rains seemed to go right around us.  Given that most athletes were well underdone, for this camp to cover 11 sessions in 3 days was a very very good effort.  With 3 different levels I think it worked very well, although next year we will look at the possibility of having 4 different levels.  Recovery from this training camp is now very important so make sure you look after yourselves over the next week to make you can fully benefit from the 4 Days of hard training.  I have noted the feedback from the camp, and will make changes to next year.

Some great pictures below, thanks to our on the spot photograph hunters.

Over the 4 days I worked with our athletes Thommo, Penny, Julie, Tara and Linda on all things technical in triathlon.  I must say with the use of some very good facilities and certainly a great environment in which to train they certainly have some very good resources and an enjoyable training environment at their disposable.  The purpose of this trip was to actually meet for the first time, some of the athlete’s athletes who I have been working with for quite some time via correspondence coaching, and put training faces to names.  Covering 8 Sessions in 3 days, we addressed swim skills and mechanics, bike sessions, and run skills, mechaniqes and testing under fatigue.  Using cameras and recording a lot of information, it was very beneficial for me to take this data, have it on record and review it when I get home.  Given the quality of these 5 (with all being ironman, national or world age group winners or placegetters) the reliance on me providing them with feedback that they could use within their home environment was very important.  Rather changing the way they do things, it was more about adding value to what they are already doing, and me having the chance to relay some of my theories and practices in high performance coaching.  My plan is to hold another one of these 4 Days camps in October this year.  I may open the next one up to a few of our Victorian athletes.

Between January 25th and February 3rd 2009, www.enduranceteam.net took a group of elite and age group athletes to Thredbo NSW for Altitude Training.  This was the 38th camp that has been run over the 12 years of our squad training and this was again a great experience for all.   With a small but dedicated crew, the group trained hard, in perfect warm weather and with some of the best training grounds for bike and run in the world including runs to the top of Australia's highest mountain at 2228metres (pictured above).   The group also trained at the AIS swim facility for the period of the training camp, and got the benefits of swimming at altitude in an indoor 50m Pool.  With athletes greatly varying in ability, and also in thier up coming target races, all athletes took real physical and mental benefits away from the camp.  Stay tuned for more camps and news shortly.

Some of the crew from 2007 Halls Gap about to take off on a training ride.  We have used Halls Gap on 6 occasions and each time it gets better and better.  With a great group and plenty of hard training, everyone comes away from these with a buzz about whats ahead.
